October Nostalgia Special. On Saturday, October 7, 2023 Metropolitan Transportation Authority - MTA NYCT Subway and the New York Transit Museum operated a Nostalgia Special in conjunction with a tour of Greenwood Cemetary. The five-car train, consisting of R-1 to R-9 class cars built from 1930-1940, picked up passengers at the 96 Street-2nd Avenue Station in Manhattan and brought them to Brooklyn, with a return trip several hours later. This was just one of many that the New York Transit Museum operates many programs and excursions throughout the year. On the return trip to Coney Island Yard, the train passes through the Canal Street Station.
