Blue hour crossing of Logan Hill At 9:37 p.m. on June 24, 2022, a southbound BNSF coal load lights up the four track main line that surmounts Logan Hill north of Bill in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin. Hot exhaust streams from the locomotives, hazing distant signals and lights, as heavy gons slowly thump past, reverberating the road overpass that spans the Orin Line at this uninhabited location in Thunder Basin National Grassland. In maybe twenty minutes or so, the train will be rolling through the lights of Bill that can be seen down below on the left.
