Remarks & Notes
Boxes At Brielle. The NJ Transit and United Railroad Historical Society of NJ operated an excursion train on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from New York Penn Station to Bayhead, New Jersey on the North Jersey Coast Line, with the return leg terminating at the Hoboken Terminal. Bombardier built ALP-46As NJTR 4640 (40th Anniversary, "Disco") and NJTR 4636 (Pennsylvania Railroad Heritage) led to South Amboy, where the first engine change since 1988 took place, placing NJTR F40s 4119 and 4120 in the lead for the rest of the trip. In addition to 5 Comet V cars, 4 private cars (Pennsylvania Railroad "120" and the Warrior Ridge/1157, and New York Central 43 and Hickory Creek) were used to make the unique consist. The matched F40s were in the lead for the whole return trip, seen crossing the Manasquan River from Point Pleasant Beach to Brielle, New Jersey. For decades these units were synonymous with this line.
