Just thirteen days ago, in Fort Worth TX, I encountered Amtrak's 50th Anniversary "Phase I" locomotive, P42DC 161, on train 22, the eastbound Texas Eagle. Somehow, I missed knowing that it was leading train 3, the westbound Southwest Chief, until I wandered down to its head end after it arrived (on time!) in Los Angeles. I never regret seeing this one, as I have fond memories of F7s, E-units and SDP40Fs wearing this scheme after the formation of Amtrak in the early 1970s.
