Since the derailment of a northbound freight train in the Gotthard Base Tunnel (GBT) on august 10, all passengers trains are rerouted over the mountain line, now called the panorama line, probably for several months. Freight trains can circulate through the east bore of the GBT since august, 23, again. "Giruno" highspeed trains RABe 501 # 008 "Monteceneri" and # 013 "Kanton Zug" of the SBB in multiple control are runnng the Intercity 10663 from Basel via Lucerne to Lugano through the staircase of the Biaschina on the Gotthard south ramp between Lavorgo and Giornico. The velocity over the mountain line is mostly 80 km/h (50 mph).
