On the weekend of July 22nd & 23rd of 2023, the Amherst Railway Society and Springfield Union Station hosted a "Kids ON TRACK" event inside of the historic concourse at Union Station in Springfield, Massachusetts. The event featured several area model railroad clubs with operating model railroad tables set up to offer participants of all ages a chance to run trains. As part of the event, CTrail offered a special roundtrip train ride between Springfield and Hartford, Connecticut. Kids ON TRACK is an emerging national effort by the Amherst Railway Society (ARS) and the model railroad industry to encourage young modelers and link model railroading to STEM education.
