UP SD70Ms 4526 and 4527 lead an Officer Special, and the train is seen at the west end of UP’s East Yard (this end often referred to as "Spence Street"). Union Pacific can still assemble a nice-looking passenger train! After twenty-one years, the large flags would be eliminated from UP diesels' paint scheme, with a smaller version applied to the side of the nose.
And, sadly, after twenty-three years, UP also decided to forego applying that classy "Winged Shield" on the nose as well, reverting back to the extremely unimpressive solo shield on the nose, an impressive throwback to fifty-nine years of history (when first reinstated). Another 18 years, and the UP could have celebrated the "Winged Shields' " centennial, but apparently corporate America isn't into anything that costs a bit extra these days. Pity.
