Sitting on the old Rock Island main line at Joliet Union Station is a Metra bi-level commuter train that is about to depart for Chicago on February 22, 1989. The station, built in 1912, once served the passenger trains of Santa Fe, Rock Island and the Alton Railroad (later, Gulf, Mobile & Ohio).
