Passing through the town of Skykomish is an eastbound Burlington Northern freight with 21,600 horsepower up front – six BN SD40-2s (6376, 8180, 8000, 6820, 8075 and 8060) with a lone SD45 (BN 6421) as the sixth of the seven units. Much of the BN's Scenic Sub is covered in snow in the winter, as seen here ... although Skykomish is only 928 ft (283 m) above sea level, it can get a fair amount of snowfall at times.
