Remarks & Notes
The World’s Fastest Locomotive…
…so claimed the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1949.

From 1983-1989 Strasburg Rail Road rostered No. 7002, leased from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. Here, on March 24, 1984, No. 7002 prepares to take its train from Leaman Place back to East Strasburg, although it won’t be reaching speeds even approaching 127.1 mph on this run. The PRR Class E7s Atlantic was rebuilt from PRR No. 8063 (PRR Class E2a, Juniata, 1902). No. 7002 now resides at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.
