In the ETR # 252 "Arlecchino" express railcar of the Fondazione FS Italiane, built in 1960 by Breda in Milano for the Ferrovie dello Stato with a top speed of 160 km/h, the locomotive drivers sit in a glazed canopy in the roof area, similar to an airplane of that time. Below that, at both ends of the train, are round glazed observation pulpits, each with 11 seats. The legendary train is on a three-day tour of Italy as the "Bella Italia Express," organized by IGE Erlebnisreisen of Hersbruck, Germany, and has stopped in Gioa del Colle. The journey took the first day of the trip from Roma Termini via Naples-Salerno-Battipagli, then across the Appenines and Potenza to Metaponto-Taranto and on to Bari.
