| The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad No. 4500 is a 2-8-2 light Mikado , built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1918. The USRA nationalised the nation's railroad system and these light Mikados were chosen to be the work horse of the war effort. The locomotive was retired in 1957 and here it sits preserved at the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad museum, next to the streamlined C&O 490. |
