As Big As It Gets. With expected heavy winter weather, the Boston, Massachusetts sections of the Amtrak Lake Shore Limited (Trains 448/449) were canceled on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. That gave Train 49, the New York to Chicago, Illinois section, a ten-car consist, the longest passenger train one can see in this area. The train, led by AMTK 714 (P32AC-DM, Phase III) is seen next to a very active Hudson River in Scarborough, New York with the new Tappan Zee Bridge in the background. Just a few miles from here at higher elevation, several inches of snow were on the ground, but near the river the ground was clear.
