Remarks & Notes |
Over 30000 tons worth of a double grain train meanders 'down stream' through Palisade Canyon on Central Pacific's portion of the original transcontinental railroad. The CP (SP) was later joined by the Western Pacific as both railroads treaded the Humboldt River through the Canyon. Following use by the USRA during WWI, the SP and WP paired their main tracks between Weso and Alazon (basically Winnemucca and Wells) with westbound trains using the SP and eastbounds on the WP. Today this arrangement largely remains the same but now under UP ownership. |
