A few years ago, as GEVOs were being delivered every few months, a friend commented that soon railfans would be salivating at a solid set of Dash 9s the same way we would over a solid set of SD40-2s a few years ago. In that vein, here we see a set of three Dash 9-44CWs on BNSF train S-ALTLBE1-15 (Intermodal Stacks; Alliance TX to Long Beach CA) crosses Cajon Creek as it rolls off Sullivan's Curve and into Cajon, in the heart of Cajon Pass. It appears that one of the train's crewmen decided to have some fun with the unusually heavy snowfall that hit southern California and added a "snowman" (or is that just a "Christmas Tree"?) to Dash 9-44CW 4670's front porch. (For the record, the other two Dash 9s are 5085 and, still wearing "Superfleet" colors, 4717.) (Cajon Pass, California – February 26, 2023)
