Snow is somewhat rare at Cajon, a bit under 3000-feet of elevation, but it does occur a few times per year. But the big storm of February 2023 dumped a lot of snow here, as it was dropping snowflakes as low as 1000-feet! (Quite unusual for southern California!) Climbing Cajon Pass' 2.2% grade on a snowy morning (with snow still falling on and off) is Union Pacific train MWCNP-26, a Manifest that originated in nearby West Colton Yard, and it heading to North Platte, Nebraska. UP ES44AC 5528, AC4400CW 6060 and SD70M 5121 are up front, with UP AC4400CW 6526 and SD70ACe 8493 working as the train's rear Distributed Power Units (DPU). The train, operating on BNSF's Cajon Sub, is roughly halfway up Cajon Pass, with seven miles to go until it reaches Summit, and then drops into the massive Mojave Desert – which also saw a lot of snow this weekend!
