Blue Doors Ride Again. During a training session on the morning of Tuesday, January 24, 2023, Metropolitan Transportation Authority - MTA NYCT Subway Budd built R-32s 3360/3361 led an unusually long 10-car train over the Williamsburg Bridge into Brooklyn, New York, The train is seen passing through the Marcy Avenue Station with a reproduction of the original "First Of 600 New Brightliners For A Better Subway" banner that it carried on its first run. That run, over the New York Central Railroad from Mott Haven into Grand Central Terminal on September 9, 1964, introduced New York City to its first regular order of shot-welded stainless steel subway cars. On Sunday, January 9 2022, these cars were on the final "Farewell To The R-32s" trip, marking the retirement of this class from the roster after 58 years of service.
