| There weren't many Strauss direct lift bridges to begin with, but this is the last one in the US. There is also one left in Prince George, BC. Northern Pacific Railway commissioned the bridge in 1914 and shared it through trackage rights with Great Northern and Union Pacific. The concept of the bridge eliminates cables which need more frequent adjustment to maintain the alignment of the lifting track with the mainline. |
