Still Snowy. Public Square in the Hudson, New York reminds us that it is winter on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, though the streets have been plowed. CSX L022(28) passes through with CSXT 8128 (SD40-2, née-CRR 8128, EMD, 8/1980) returning a substantial 42 empty cars, including a very nice Cascade Green BN on the head end, to the yard down the hill. This short industrial spur is a remnant of the Hudson Branch of the Hudson & Berkshire Railroad (later Boston & Albany/New York Central/Penn Central/Conrail/CSX) at the corner of State and North 7th Street in Hudson, New York. Today CSX calls this the "Claverack Industrial Track", but passenger service here was discontinued in 1933. Hudson, New York is nicknamed "The Friendly City" due to its founding by Quakers in 1785, but is home to a number of entertainment venues, restaurants and bars, so is still very much welcoming visitors.
