It's been a minute since I've been out to shoot real trains. Between my retirement, the new model trains and of course gas prices it's just been a challenge. We had a super quick trip up North...got to the hotel at 2330, woke up at 0430 for sunrise shots. Glad we did, the AZ sky did not disappont and the trains cooperated. We planned on shooting some trains on the Phoenix Sub but turns out everything was pretty much parked, so made the early wake up worth it even more. In this shot a 10 unit light power move breezes through the full over the Grand Canyon Railway at Williams, AZ.
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
