On this November morning, the Bernina Pass showed its most beautiful side. After a few cold nights and some snowfall, the landscape was covered with a fine layer of white powder, but the lake was not yet frozen. Soon, however, the temperatures will be below zero long enough and the lake will slowly but surely freeze over completely.
For me, both the weather and the used vehicles were reason enough to make the long trip to Bernina Ospizio and walk along the lake. With the upcoming timetable change, the ABe 4/4 III will be withdrawn from the regional trains and will only be used in front of the tourist trains between St. Moritz and Tirano.
