Burlington Northern Santa Fe EMD SD40-2 No. 8080 leads a train out of the crew change point of Sheridan, Wyoming, on the morning of July 1, 2002. BNSF No. 8080 is a former BN locomotive built in August 1979 and with 3,945 SD40-2s built by EMD over their long production span, the model practically became the standard locomotive of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
