As Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 765 (Irvine to Goleta, truncated due to ground stabilization work being performed along the railroad’s right of way along the beach in San Clemente) makes its station stop in Fullerton, heading the other way is BNSF eastbound train Z-LACNYC1-26 (Los Angeles to New York). This train has a somewhat eclectic collection of diesels for power: BNSF ES44C4 7072, BNSF ET44C4 3845, BNSF Dash 9-44C 4632, NS AC44C6M 4591 (rebuilt from NS Dash 9-44CW 3987), BNSF Dash 9-44CW 4719 (still in red and silver “Superfleet” colors) and BNSF ES44AC 5825.
