The old Burlington Route Long Branch stretched 830 miles from Lincoln, NE to Huntley, MT where it joined Northern Pacific's mainline. In more recent days the route became a high density coal corridor with traffic moving both east and west from the Powder River coal basin. Amidst this traffic were some occasional anomalies such as ATSF 931 coming through Hemingford, NE on a summer afternoon.
