Several years ago the "Lost Engines of Roanoke" were removed from a scrap yard in Roanoke, where they had been since the 1950's, and relocated to several groups in several locations. N&W Class M2a #1151 was built in the Roanoke Shops in 1911 and served in freight duty until retirement. 1151 is now located just outside of the fenced in grounds of the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke. It sits unprotected within 20 feet from a downtown public road. I'm afraid it's becoming Lost again. |
