OKLAHOMA CITY OK Oct 16 1983 -- ATSF GP7u 1313 and stablemates are handling switching duties at Flynn Yard between I-240 and Moore. On March 26 1930, not far east of this location, the Wild Mary Sudik oil well blew out and was not brought under control for eleven days. It showered oil on land for a radius of five to six miles and winds carried oil as far south as Norman which is 12 miles south. My photo
Aside from Warbonnets and Chiefs, Santa Fe was a workaday railroad like any other. This album showcases that less glamorous--but no less vital--side of the famous ATSF.
