Still putting in the hours and rolling the miles forty-two years after it was built is Missouri Pacific GP38-2 2209. General Motors Electro-Motive Division built these locomotives to last! On December 22, 1982, the Missouri Pacific was purchased by the Union Pacific Corporation and combined with the Western Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad to form one large railroad system. This engine became Union Pacific 2209 as a result, and was eventually renumbered UP 709, as seen on the evening of August 28, 2022, as it sits in a power consist that arrived in Anaheim, California, from West Colton Yard earlier in the day. UP 709 has recently been assigned to the UP's Buena Park local (UP LOA39R) that runs to Huntington Beach, so it may be returning from West Colton (following some maintenance) or heading to WC (for some maintenance).
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
