Remarks & Notes
Elevated On Elevated. A Metropolitan Transportation Authority - MTA NYCT Subway/New York Transit Museum Nostalgia Special was operated on August 18, 2019 to commemorate the end of service on the Myrtle Avenue Elevated between Broadway and Jay Street on October 4, 1969. The first section opened on April 10, 1888, and today the remaining portion of the line operates today between Metropolitan Avenue and Myrtle Avenue. Brooklyn Union Elevated car 1407 (Jewett/Pressed Steel, 1907) led a 3-car train (1407-1273-1404) over this portion of the route of the former Myrtle Avenue Elevated, seen passing through the Hewes Street Station. Today it operates as the “M” line and is a full y integrated part of the NYCT Subway system.
