Remarks & Notes
Former Swedish State Railways (SJ) electric locomotive Hg # 787 of the Swedish Railway Museum in Hagalund yard near Solna station. Hg # 787 was built in 1949 by Svenska Järnvägsstäderna in Falun, with electrical equipment from ASEA. 65 Hg locomotives were produced and delivered in 1947-1951, with the numbers # 654-681 and # 751-787. Some of the locomotives were originally built for private railways. The Hg locomotives had two two-axle bogies with a drive motor at each axle and the locomotive basket was fully welded. Hg locomotives were intended for light freight and regional passenger trains. They were first used at locomotive stations all over Sweden. Later, several were rebuilt for multiple operation and then served in freight trains in western Sweden and in local trains between Gothenburg-Alingsås, including Hg # 787. The others served in the rest of the country in freight trains and in shunting. In the early 1990s all Hg locomotives were withdrawn but 756 was transferred to the Järnvägsmuseum as was later # 787. Hg # 787 is still operational.
