DBR 1254 leads a special excursion train "long hood leading" towards Pukekohe after taking passengers for a trip out to the Glenbrook Steel Mill. Running along the Mission Bush branch, a line usually only for freight, passengers have a rare opportunity to see the sights usually only a Locomotive Engineer gets to see.
Railway Enthusiasts Society has operated rail excursions around NZ since 1958, some steam hauled using rolling stock from Glenbrook Vintage Railway which it established in 1970's near Auckland. See www.railfan.org.nz
