Remarks & Notes
48 seats salon in the restaurant car # 3749 of the Swedish Railway Museum of Gävle, in the extra train from Kiruna to Abisko Oestra and back, pulled by locomotive Da # 888. Restaurant car Ro3b # 3749 "Rudolf Cronstedt" was built by Kalmar Verkstad in 1946 as a welded steel wagon. The car was built in a series of three and it was SJ's first fully electric restaurant car. The carriage had a kitchen and two dining rooms with a total of 48 seats. The carriage was also beautifully decorated with intarsia artwork by Ewald Dahlskog. They are still present in carriage 3749, depicting Gothenburg and Malmö. Ro3b # 3749 has been completely refurbished and has been part of the vintage train since the mid-2000s. In the carriage, the food is prepared on board and served with finesse by means of a maître and staff, of course on real china on white tablecloths. Rudolf Cronstedt (1826-1906) was a count, engineer and civil servant, and between 1887 and 1897 he was SJ's director general. In the 1980s, SJ named all its special and conference carriages after older general directors, and carriage 3749, which was then part of this carriage fleet, was named "Cronstedt's carriage".
