Cherry Creek Combo, The Low Angle. Another unusual part of the run on New York & Lake Erie RR Train Rides on Saturday, June 25, 2022 was a trip down to Cherry Creek, New York. Regular excursion service ends at the South Dayton, New York station, but recent work on the railroad allows trains to travel further. The station at Cherry Creek still very much shows the Erie Railroad heritage of this line. MLWs FPA2 6758 (ex-VIA 6758, neé-CN 6758) and FPA4 6764 (ex-VIA 6764, neé-CN 6764) were putting out an impressive effort as the passed former Erie Railroad S-1 308 (Alco, 11/1946), which was posed on the siding for the photo opportunity. The NYLE once used this line to connect to Jamestown, New York, but much of the track beyond here is impassable.
New York state has the largest number of ALCO diesel locomotives working in everyday service. Here are some of them. Soon I hope to chronicle all of them.
Photos of North America's favorite First Generation locomotives. EMD, ALCO, Baldwin; essentially anything that represents the OG wide cab diesel locomotive
