| It is 4:20 am on July 3rd 2022 and steam locomotive R #976 is pulling 14 iron ore cars + 2 coupler cars for a total weight of approximately 1300 tons as it used to do one century ago. On the occasion of the 120-year anniversary of the iron ore line "Malmbanan", the Swedish railway museum together with LKAB iron ore mining company ran several historical trains between June 30 and July 4 2022.
This 0-10-0 steam locomotive belongs to a series of 5 locomotives which were specifically built for this line by Motala and NOHAB in 1908 and 1909. It is now property of the Swedish Railway museum in Gävle. |
