Remarks & Notes
Getting out of St. Regis before dawn, we headed to some of Montana Rail Link’s last Northern Pacific-era semaphores east of town. Magic colors appeared as a rising sun finally peaked over the tall mountains surrounding the Clark Fork valley at milepost 192. It would probably only last for minutes and we knew that the vertical blades meant nothing was close, as the sun quickly brightened to the east and fog faded just as fast. We photographed the fleeting scene anyway. This brings to mind an age old question. Does a railroad photo have to include a train?

A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom seen beauty of railroads from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding sunset to sunrise surprises!)
