Remarks & Notes
Most of what you'll see on Amtrak's Springfield Line is passenger equipment, but if you play your cards right, you can reliably catch Connecticut Southern's Hartford, CT-West Springfield, MA turn on weekdays, which crosses the Connecticut River on its trip. The bridge over the river, connecting Windsor Locks with Enfield, dates back to 1866, and was built in sections in England that were shipped to the United States due to Civil War demands on the domestic iron industry. Here, Connecticut Southern train CSO-4 is on the return trip back to Hartford after exchanging cars with CSX at West Springfield.
