Remarks & Notes
It's Opening Day for the New York Yankees ... but a day late, thanks to a day of heavy rains the day before. And to celebrate, New York's MTA operated a four-car train of ancient Lo-V subway cars to Yankee Stadium the game. ("Lo-V" is short for Low Voltage.) This train consists of cars 5292, 5290, 5483 and 5443, which were New York City Subway cars built from 1916 to 1925 by the Pressed Steel Car Company, American Car and Foundry, and Pullman Company for New York City Transit Authority predecessor Interborough Rapid Transit Company. This train brought a load of Yankee fans to the game in the Bronx, although it sure looked more like a load of railfans. The Yankees won 6 to 5 in 11 innings. (New York, New York – April 8, 2022)
