Remarks & Notes
A Wisconsin & Calumet three-car freight departs Monroe, Wisconsin, over a snow-covered former Illinois Central Gulf branch line running between Madison, Wisconsin, and Freeport, Illinois, on February 17, 1985. Former Milwaukee Road EMD GP9 No. 270 powers the train and, ironically, passes under the bridge carrying the former Milwaukee Road branch to Platteville and Mineral Point. Believe it or not, and perfectly following Wisconsin traditions, the three cars contain Huber Beer and Swiss Colony Cheese from Monroe!
