Union Pacific train LOA32, the Costa Mesa Local (which hasn't gone to Costa Mesa in decades, as the tracks were removed), rounds the curve at CP Maple on its approach to the city of Orange as it heads from Anaheim to Santa Ana. This train, comprised of UP GP40P-2 1375 (the last passenger locomotive ever purchased by the Southern Pacific) and GP60 1083 and eleven freight cars (4 centerbeams, 4 box cars and 3 tank cars), is utilizing Metrolink's Orange Sub for part of the trip and, here at CP Maple is where Metrolink’s Olive Sub (the trackage in the foreground) joins the primary line connecting Los Angeles and San Diego.
