Having just crossed the Santa Ana River, and in the process also crossing eastward from Anaheim to Orange, Union Pacific train LOA32, the local heading from West Anaheim Yard to southern Santa Ana, has just passed through the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC), the city’s Amtrak, Metrolink and bus station visible in the background (well, the elevator structures and overhead walkway are visible here), and the train will soon turn south to get to Santa Ana, just beyond Orange. (And, yes, there will be a test on the geography of this area later, so I hope you were taking notes!) UP GP40P-2 1375 (ex-SP 7602, née-SP 3199) and GP60 1083 (ex-UP 1953, née-SSW 9651) have 8 cars in tow, although not the exact same eight cars that they had when running down Anaheim’s Santa Ana Street an hour or so earlier. It is too bad that the crew forgot to turn on the 1375’s ditchlights, though. (Orange, California – March 9, 2022)
