The bulk of BNSF Railway’s business car fleet arrived in southern California on January 27, when train O-TOPBAR1-27 arrived in Barstow CA from Topeka KS. These cars were used for a Berkshire Hathaway function in the Los Angeles area, and following that all 16 cars were sent to San Diego to operate as a Super Bowl Special, carrying select shippers to Los Angeles. The train was then broken up into two shorter trains, with one heading back to Topeka (where the passenger car shops are located) and the other going back down to San Diego, where the train was used to wine and dine more shippers on a round trip from San Diego to Oceanside. The next day these remaining cars were sent east to Topeka again, and train O-SBDTOP1-23 is seen passing through Blue Cut behind one of the Railway’s 25th Anniversary engines, ES44AC 6017, pulling dome/lounge 31 Carl R Ice, dining car 10 Lake Superior, business car 4 Missouri River, sleeping car 67 Trinchera Pass, business car 6 Topeka, business car 63 Glorieta Pass and power car 51 Mt Rainier.
