UP displayed UP 8444 at Spokane's Expo 74 Worlds Fair during the summer of 1974. This photo was my first encounter with the locomotive, and over the next 20 years there would be several more. The fair was basically set up on former UP and BN railroad property near downtown Spokane and permanently changed the railroad environment in that city.
