Remarks & Notes

Two year old Burlington Northern started to modernize their switch engine fleet choosing EMD SW1000 locos to replace aging Alco and EMD switchers. The also inherited a few GN SW1500s and would gain more in 1980 with the Frisco merger. Here in St. Paul BN 393 leads a pack of older EMDs.
