The "Lantern Girl". At the conclusion of the November, 2021 Historic Transport Preservation (HTP) photo shoot at Pennsylvania's Strasburg Rail Road, we had an opportunity to re-create a historic photo from Time / Life Magazine, which depicted a female employee of the Pennsylvania Railroad, carrying a large group of lanterns to PRR crewmen at the beginning of an evening shift. A series of scenes was staged beside the Strasburg Rail Road's J-Tower, itself a PRR relic, depicting this young woman in various stages of preparing and distributing lanterns to the crew of N&W #475. In this image, our "Lantern Girl", Ginny, departs the J-Tower stairs carrying her lanterns. This image is the re-creation of the actual Time / Life historic photo.
