For celebrating 125 years operation on the Gotthard line, a steam train run from Bellinzona to Erstfeld. 4-6-0 express train steamlocomotive A 3/5 # 705, which is leading the consist, was not a mountain locomotive, but for fast passenger trains on lower grades, but 2-10-0 C 5/6 # 2978 "Elephant", the second engine, was especially built for freight trains on the Gotthard. The train just left the Prato spiral tunnel on the southern ascent, the photographer took a first picture 3 minutes and 46 seconds before (see picture www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=224998 ) and raced up to this point about 50 m higher.
