The trainset from this morning’s Southwest Chief has deadheaded to Amtrak’s Redondo Junction facility for servicing. AMTK P42DC 161, recently repainted into the carrier’s original paint scheme for Amtrak’s 50th Anniversary (although it appears that the snowplow has been replaced), will also lead the eastbound Southwest Chief later this evening. On the adjacent track is a trainset with P42DC 81 on the point. (Los Angeles, California – January 5, 2022)
