A train off the Sioux City Sub waits at the Ashland depot, that was still an open office with operator at the time. On the Creston Sub a pair of classy SD70MACs lead westbound coal empties toward Lincoln and beyond. Today the depot is razed, the Q-style signals are gone, the coal traffic has waned and the power is less varied (to put it nicely). Down beyond the signal bridge the Sioux line heads north through a wye, the east leg of which allows traffic from Kansas City to access the route.
