Southern Pacific three-foot narrow gauge 4-6-0 No. 18 rests in the Durango, Colorado, roundhouse of the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad on August 30, 2021. The Mogul is being leased for a second stint on D&SNG in 2021 to help add another oil-fired locomotive to the roster during an unprecedented drought in the southwest. The car on the left that two roundhouse employees are working on is a former standard gauge hopper from Montana’s Butte, Anaconda & Pacific, which will most likely be used in work train service hauling ballast.
