A lot has changed here since 1981: The Mt. Vernon Avenue overpass is gone (and will be replaced with a less-rickety structure), the tower at A Yard is gone, A yard is now an intermodal facility, the open land on the left now contains stub end spurs that were formally used for Metrolink trains (before the Metrolink line was expanded another mile to the east on the former Santa Fe San Jacinto branch), intermodal trains are now 98% double-stack cars and the Santa Fe Railway is no more, having merged out of existence by merging with the Burlington Northern to form the BNSF Railway. Santa Fe SD40-2s 5145 and 5167, along with GP30 3281, are making a crew change (also no longer performed here) as they lead an eastbound intermodal train from Los Angeles to, most likely, Chicago.
