Remarks & Notes
Amtrak Mobile. On February 18, 2016, the Amtrak Sunset Limited demonstration train stopped in Mobile, Alabama at the site of the old Louisville & Nashville Railroad/Amtrak station with Amtrak P40DC 822 and P42DC 145 leading a 10 car train. Across the street is the impressive National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico, one of many attractions in the area. Service on the "Sunset Limited" was suspended on this route in 2005 prior to Hurricane Katrina, and this is the only Amtrak train to have traveled these tracks since then.
