Remarks & Notes
Presidents. Amtrak Train 173 sped through Wilmington, Delaware on the former Pennsylvania Railroad viaduct on July 21, 2016 with Siemens ACS-64 AMTK 600 leading. This engine was dedicated to the service of David L. Gunn, who had been President of Amtrak from 2002-2005. In 2011, the Amtrak Wilmington Station was renamed the Joseph R. Biden, Jr., Railroad Station. Politics aside, Biden has perhaps racked up the most miles for a non-employee in the history of the National Rail Passenger Carrier as he regularly commuted between Wilmington, Delaware and Washington D.C. making approximately 7,000 round trips while serving as Senator from Delaware 1973 to 2009.
